I used to watch Dr Phil with my mother ages ago but stopped as I never had the time to watch it. This changed recently as the interview he did with Nick Gordon the boyfriend of Bobbi Kristina Brown was trending on twitter.
I heard people calling it a 'must see' like some new movie so naturally I had to watch it. When I finally got around to doing so I was so shocked by what I saw. Now I realise that Dr Phil is really good at what he does but I personally do not think the interview or rather the intervention was supposed to be televised.
The young man was not only drunk but his emotional state was not of someone whose problems must be showed on TV. He is clearly going through a lot with the condition Bobbi Kristina is in. He somehow blames himself for not being able to help her or prevent the whole thing from happening, this was revealed on the interview. His mother was there and just like most people I caught myself wondering where she had been all this time, I had never even heard about her before the Dr Phil interview.
I fell like too much has been televised regarding the Houston's in general so this aspect should not have been especially with the state Bobbi Kristina is in. Nick was all over the place crying one minute than trying to keep himself together as he did not want to look 'weak' on TV. I was saddened by the whole thing and hope that Gordon went to the rehabilitation centre offered to him by Dr Phil and is hopefully getting the help he needs.
If I learned anything from watching the intervention it is that life is hard enough when one is not famous, I cannot imagine what it is like to be in the shoes of Nick Jordan and do not wish to.

The Easter weekend it should have been
So each year I wait for the Easter weekend to come around, not just to show appreciation to the man above but for another slightly less serious reason.
I have had a crush on a guy from church for years now and usually what happens every Easter is that I see him and we have what I think is a moment... It could last two seconds and I would not mind as long as this ritual carries on. It keeps the spark alive you know?
Well not this year, I guess because I spent the whole week leading up to the Easter weekend getting excited about seeing him, I jinxed things and he did not come. Either that or because there were to many people at church I missed him. Whatever the reason, problem is I did not get to see him, and because I live far from where he lives the chances of me seeing him again before I leave for school are slim.
Regardless though I had a good weekend. I mean at the end of the day Easter is not about seeing ones crush right?

A week for African writers
The 18th Time of the writer festival is upon us and all students in KwaZulu Natal have received the chance to yet again meet and converse with African authors.
We usually give all our attention to authors like JK Rowling, Danielle Steel, Nicholas Sparks etc., so it is refreshing to have this time to focus on our own writers. People like Mandla Langa, Mzilikazi wa Africa and more.
The festival is usually based at the Sneddon theatre at the Howard Collage (University Of KwaZulu Natal) but they do visit other universities in Durban. On the 17th they were at the Durban University of Technology where I got to see the authors that were there. The authors were Mzilikazi wa Africa who has made a name for himself in the media industry. Also I got to meet Futhi Ntshingila and Margaret Von Klemperer who are both novelists.
It was such a privilege to meet such inspirational writers. I got inspired to focus more on one day writing my own novel to get my stories out to the world... but I am taking it a day at a time.
Every one must try to catch more authors at the Sneddon theatre by the end of this week (21st).

Saddest weekend...
Anyone who knows me knows that I have mad love for August Alsina. Now for those that do not know, August is an R&B artist that is just absolutely amazing in my life.
Anyways I was lazily texting people the whole weekend about school stuff, the usual, then all of a sudden a bunch of my friends, just out of the blue, decided to ask whether or not I had heard that August Alsina passed away.
I honestly do not know where such a story came from but even on the so reliable twitter people were going crazy about the "death" of the star. I, for one, just could not deal with anyone who said this to me. I googled it so many times trying to figure out whether or not it is true but I am scared to say I don't know.
I do think that it would have been a bigger story if it were true but nonetheless the damage was done. I was sad the whole weekend, terrified that my favorite artist right now was no longer on this earth. This just shows how quick life is, and how unpredictable it could be.
Live every moment as if it were your last has always seemed like an impossible phrase but I think it is about time I took it seriously. Anything can happen. One minute I could be chilling with my friends drinking wine then the very next day I could be lying motionless in a morgue.
SO basically what I am saying is, thanks a lot to those who ruined my weekend and lastly, If you are reading this never forget to LIVE. You only get to do it once.

Changes
The world goes through changes everyday, it comes with growth and so it is only normal that I too have gone through a few changes.
This blog has been crossed out of my priorities for almost two years now. I have been focused solely on things I cant even imagine to retell as it would take ages. I have changed drastically and therefore this blog is going to change. The first change I am going to try and focus on is actually focusing on the blog itself.
I am still not sure what I hope to aim or impart in particular but that I will figure out as time goes on. For now I guess its going to be little old me, Nosipho Nyide, reliving my weekly accounts as I see them.
I read an interesting quote on change by Hugh Prather it goes; Just when I think I have learned the way to live, life changes.

Disturbed palace
I have probably had the worst day ever. I learned so much in just one day, I am actually surprised by how much one can find out about a person in a day. People can only hide their true colors for a limited period of time... eventually the little demons inside them burst out and of course I had to be in the front line when my so called "FRIENDS" demons came out. I don't even know how to react to such.
Regardless of that drama though I managed to learn yet something else about myself today. I always used to think I have people skills but apparently I do not or else I'd know what to do when I found myself in sticky situations with friends.
Being a loner doesn't sound so bad NOW... just saying.
